Water Meter Models
Quantity

Hidroconta IRIS GPRS Remote Communication Module transforms standard water meters into smart IoT-enabled monitoring devices. Compatible with all Hidroconta water meters, the IRIS module automatically records and transmits consumption data to a secure cloud platform, allowing users to monitor usage through a web portal or mobile app. Featuring a built-in SIM card, integrated battery with up to 12 years of operation, and advanced alarm notifications, IRIS provides a complete remote monitoring solution with no external power supply or internet connection required.

Key benefits include real-time flow monitoring, pressure and tank level alerts, leak detection, valve status monitoring, and API integration for SCADA systems. All communication costs are included for the lifetime of the device.

Specifications

Digitisation of traditional water meters.

  • The Iris module can be connected to any meter in two different ways.
  • Firstly, it is compatible with any meter with a pulse emitter, whether it has a potential free contact (e.g. a reed relay) or an open collector, which can be connected to the IRIS device’s pulse input.
  • They can also be Hidroconta meters with an inductive connection, such as the Atlantis and Tritón domestic water meters.

Alarm configuration

The IRIS device’s integrated software is able to generate alarms according to the installation conditions. The possible alarms are as follows:

  • Reverse flow alarm: Reverse flow detection. Only available for the version with inductive sensing. Communication-configurable threshold.
  • Leak alarm: Detects continuous consumption over a maximum period of time. Communication-configurable threshold.
  • Stopped meter alarm: The alarm is detected if no consumption is detected over a maximum period of time. Communication-configurable threshold.
  • Undersized meter alarm: Detects a flow higher than the overload flow rate over a maximum period of time. Communication-configurable threshold.
  • Meter tampering alarm: The alarm is activated if the device is not installed on the meter. Only available for the version with inductive sensing.
  • Battery state alarm: Various battery alarm levels are activated depending on the remaining battery life.

Communication profiles

With the communications module developed by Hidroconta, which can be integrated with all water meters, it is possible to adjust the amount of information sent and received according to each user’s needs. Thus, the communication profiles available are:

  • Normal-24: Sends data every 24 hours and records it every hour.
  • Normal-8: Sends data every 8 hours and records it every hour.
  • Medium: Sends data every 12 hours and records it every 30 minutes.
  • Extreme: Sends data every 6 hours and records it every 15 minutes.

Communications technology

It is essential for the IoT devices developed by Hidroconta to be flexible so that they are compatible with the communication protocols available on the market. The IRIS can be configured for the following protocols: Sigfox, NB-IoT, LoraWan, Lora and GPRS.

What Is WRAS Certification?

WRAS certification stands for Water Regulations Advisory Scheme approval, and it’s a trusted mark that shows a product complies with the UK's water supply regulations.
It means the materials and components used won't contaminate your drinking water and that the product is built to a high standard of safety and quality. It’s especially important for anything connected to the mains water supply, whether you’re fitting out a commercial site or upgrading your home system.
All of our products are WRAS certified as standard, so you can have complete confidence they’re fully compliant, reliable and built to last. If you're ever unsure about what's required for your setup, we're always happy to advise.

Do Waterwise Pumps Prices Include VAT?

This approach allows our pricing to remain clear and consistent for both trade and domestic customers, while ensuring the correct VAT amount is applied to every order. You will always be able to review the full order total, including VAT, before completing your purchase.
If you have any questions about VAT, invoicing, or pricing, our team is happy to assist.

How Often Should I Replace My Water Filter?

In the UK, most domestic and commercial water filters should be replaced every 6 to 12 months, depending on the type of filter, water quality, and usage levels. Here's a quick breakdown:

Sediment Filters (used in pre-treatment): Every 6 months or sooner if water flow drops noticeably.

Carbon Filters (for taste, odour, chlorine): Every 6 to 12 months.

Reverse Osmosis Filters: Prefilters every 6–12 months, membrane every 2–3 years.

UV Lamps: Annually (bulb may still light after a year but won't provide effective disinfection)

Limescale Filters: Cartridges usually last 6–12 months, depending on hardness and flow.

If you're dealing with high sediment levels, hard water, or heavy usage (like in a commercial setting), you may need to replace filters more frequently. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidance, and if in doubt, we’re happy to advise based on your system and setup.
